Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left shocked after Harry Kane’s comments to ITV Sport following England’s game last night.
More pain for Kane
Kane struggled once again as the Three Lions could only muster up a 1-1 draw with Hungary.
The Tottenham striker was actually taken off in the late stages of the match, as England chased an equaliser.
That rather highlighted just how poor his display had been, and much of the talk at full-time centred around Kane’s poor form for both club and country.
Kane is yet to hit the back of the net for Tottenham in the Premier League this term.
However, the Spurs forward insisted at full-time that he was still in confident mood, as he had netted nine times so far this term.
“I’m in a good place – I know there’s been a lot of talk about me but at the end of the day, I’ve still scored nine goals this season,” the England captain said.
“I’m there, I’m working as hard as I can for the team. When the chances come I am confident I will put them away.”
Unfortunately for Kane the bulk of these goals had come against lesser opposition.
Kane has been prolific in Tottenham’s Conference League campaign, but some of the opposition sides have hardly been of an elite standard.
And Spurs fans were shocked to see Kane’s line of defence in the post match interview.
Needing to improve
The only way for Kane to silence the mounting criticism of his displays will be through improving his showings.
Kane’s disrupted pre-season preparation seems to have disrupted his usually consistent form.
The Tottenham striker usually takes a while to click into gear, but his showings this term have been way below standard.
And he will be surely be determined to get his Premier League goalscoring account opened for the new campaign at the weekend, when Spurs take on Newcastle United.
