Aston Villa fans on Twitter have dismissed their links with Real Mallorca forward Ante Budimir.

Spanish outlet Marca have claimed that the West Midlands outfit and Sheffield United have enquired about the 29-year-old forward.

Given Budimir’s age and lack of profile, Villa fans have questioned why on earth the club would push for a player of his standing.

Dean Smith does need more quality in the final third, but potentially pushing for Budimir’s signature just smells of another Borja Baston signing.

The summer transfer window will slam shut on October 5, so if Villa want to add more legs to their wide areas, number 9 or in the middle of the park then they don’t have much time left.

But the work done by the club so far has been pretty solid and they shouldn’t ruin it by potentially panic buying just to add another number to the squad.

Villa fans have made it clear that they should perhaps push for other more experienced options in England’s second-tier.

The likes of Josh King and Troy Deeney, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, would be ideal suitors.

It remains to be seen where this rumour ends up during these coming weeks, but it seems as though the Villa faithful will want it to remain just a rumour.
