Glasgow Rangers forward Martyn Waghorn has been linked with Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Sunderland.

Rangers forward Martyn Waghorn is a wanted man, according to a report in The Daily Mail. Nottingham Forest, Leeds United and Sunderland are interested in Waghorn, according to today’s print edition (21/03, p75) (click here to read more).
Waghorn was superb for Rangers during the 2015-16 season, playing a key role in the Gers’ automatic promotion from the Scottish Championship.
The 27-year-old forward, though, has struggled to make a huge impact in the Scottish Premiership this season. The former Leicester City and Wigan Athletic man’s current contract with Rangers runs out in June 2018, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
Forest, Leeds and Sunderland must have seen something in Waghorn, but would they find it easy to sign the Rangers forward in the summer transfer window? Maybe, maybe not, as the Englishman recently made some rather interesting comments about his future.
“Everyone has two months to show what they can do,” Waghorn told The Daily Record over the weekend. “Everyone is on trial but we have to believe in ourselves and focus on the jobs in hand, which are to finish second in the league and win the Scottish Cup.
“Who knows what the future holds? But I am going to give my all for the club and hopefully be here next season too.
“I’ve always said I would like to stay, extend my contract and be here for a long time. I have another year on my deal so we have plenty of time left. There’s no rush but hopefully I can stay in the team.”
Waghorn’s comments suggest that he is happy at Rangers and is willing to give his all, but maybe, just maybe, Forest, Leeds or Sunderland could snap him up if they push hard.
