Rangers completed the signing of Jake Hastie this week.

Rangers have announced a deal confirming the signing of Jake Hastie.

The winger will link up with Rangers at the end of the season once his contract at Motherwell is up.

Rangers fans are understandably excited to see him in action at Ibrox.

But it might be too early to guarantee Hastie will be playing for Rangers next season.

He arrives in a position where Rangers have multiple options.

Glenn Middleton, Jordan Jones and Serge Atakayi are all looking to shake things up on the wing, Jamie Murphy is set to return, while Rangers still want to re-sign Ryan Kent.

A similar situation played out last summer, in central midfield.

After assessing his options in pre-season, Steven Gerrard elected to send out Greg Docherty on loan for the season, despite the midfielder signing only months earlier.

The hard work for Hastie is only just beginning. He must prove himself, that he is ready to contribute for Rangers straight away.

If he can’t, he too could head out on loan to develop his game.
