Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after The Athletic revealed that Roberto Firmino will be sidelined until mid-December through injury.
What’s the story?
Well, the £29m man was last seen during Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Atlético Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday 3rd November.
Firmino limped down the Anfield tunnel with a suspected hamstring injury, and thanks to The Athletic‘s James Pearce, we’ve now been given an update.
With the Brazilian’s return pencilled in for mid-December, Jürgen Klopp may have to cope without his No.9 in seven games.
If we were to assume his return would fall on December 16th, Firmino will miss Liverpool’s games against Arsenal, FC Porto, Southampton, Everton, Wolves, AC Milan and Aston Villa.
Luckily for the Reds, they have already qualified for the Champions League Last 16, so Klopp can afford to use Divock Origi or Takumi Minamino in Europe.
Domestically, however, Liverpool have a title race to stay in, so this news will concern the Anfield faithful.
Roberto Firmino injury means Diogo Jota must step up for Liverpool

Unfortunately, Origi and Minamino haven’t shown Klopp enough to prove they can deliver the goods consistently while Firmino is absent.
However, Diogo Jota has, and it’s now time for him to step things up a notch with Firmino missing until mid-December.
The 24-year-old has scored five goals in 14 appearances this season, which is a respectable tally.

However, Jota must do more, with Liverpool set to face some potential banana skins over the festive period such as Arsenal, Wolves and Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa.
Crucially, the Portugal international must take care of himself. If he picks up an injury as well, it could have serious implications on the title race.
For now, let’s see what the Liverpool fans on Twitter have been saying about the news…
