Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ben Foster has been discussing Fraser Forster’s performance for Tottenham at the weekend.
It is incredibly interesting to hear Foster speak about the Spurs goalkeeper at this moment in time. After all, Foster himself has actually been linked with a move to Tottenham on a free transfer after an injury to Hugo Lloris.
Foster has been linked with a move to Spurs in recent days, but he’s played down the idea that he could be of service to Spurs, stating that he’s much too old to do any better than Forster at the moment.
Foster defends Forster
The ex-Watford goalie defended the Spurs keeper after he shipped four goals against Leicester.
“Come on, you can’t pin any of this on Fraser Forster. There’s no chance. Harvey Barnes, the one I think you’re on about, that’s a lovely finish, it’s in the corner. Defenders kept backing off,” Foster said.
“Would you have saved it?” Darren Bent asked.
“Not now, I’m way too old to save anything like that, but I don’t know, we’ll see,” Foster replied.
Not worth signing
Spurs are reportedly considering bringing Foster in as an emergency backup, but by the sounds of it, it’s not worth signing him.
The goalkeeper is retired, and it looks as though he’s best off staying away from the game if he’s doubting his abilities in this way.
Tottenham could easily turn towards and academy goalkeeper if the worst case scenario unfolds, and while they wouldn’t be as experienced as Foster, they’d certainly be more mobile.
Tottenham should probably steer clear of this one.
