Rangers linked Jack Wilshere has admitted to Sky Sports that he has held talks with clubs, as he weighs up his next move.

The Press Association claim that Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is keen to take Wilshere to Ibrox, but no move has been finalised yet.

Wilshere remains a free agent, but he does hint that a move to Rangers would appeal, if the chance was to come about.

“I’m open to pretty much anything,” he said, when asked about his future. “I want to play for a club where I can feel an important part of it. Really I just want to get back to playing 25, 30 games a season where you can get your confidence back.

“I still feel like I can do it and prove people wrong. Without naming clubs, there’s been talks and it’s nice to speak to people who rate you as a footballer and want you.”

If Wilshere was to arrive at Rangers he would join having been starved of football in recent seasons.

The 28-year-old barely featured towards the end of his time with West Ham United, despite insisting that he was fit enough to play.

Wilshere would, therefore, arrive at Rangers with a point to prove – and if Gerrard could get him back to his best, he could be one of the standout players in Scotland.

On his day Wilshere remains a huge talent, and his ability in possession is unquestionable.

But it remains to be seen just how big an impact his lack of game time and consistent injuries have had on him, and what level he is currently at.
