Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, Sam Allardyce has been discussing some of the managerial vacancies in the Premier League and a potential return to the game.
After Neil Warnock remarkably returned to Huddersfield Town, Allardyce was, of course, being prodded about his potential return to management.
Allardyce did note that he’s open to coming back into the game, but he did add that he’s not heard anything from either Leeds or Southampton about the vacancies at Elland Road or St Mary’s.
Not heard anything
Allardyce shared an update on his situation.
“We asked you last week and we’ll have to ask you again about Leeds because they still have their caretaker manager,” Allardyce was asked.
“Well, there’s been no call from Leeds and no call from Southampton since they got rid of Nathan Jones, so I sit here looking forward to going to Dubai tomorrow and enjoying my life in the sun for a couple of weeks,” Allardyce said.
Matter of time
Allarydce may not have heard anything from Leeds or Southampton just yet, but it may just be a matter of time before he fields a few calls.
Make no mistake about it, Leeds and Southampton are both facing a relegation battle this season, and if they want to stay up, there’s no manager better-placed than Allardyce to save them.
This is a gaffer who knows exactly how to fight a fire in the Premier League, and if Leeds and Saints genuinely think they’re in danger of going down, they could do a lot worse than getting Allardyce in.
