Jermaine Jenas has revealed it’s as ‘clear as day’ that Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale is at loggerheads with coach Jose Mourinho.

It was reported in midweek that Mourinho was infuriated by Bale’s claim that training went okay on Wednesday.

Later in the evening. Spurs went to Everton for an FA Cup clash and the Portuguese coach claimed that the 31-year-old’s absence from the squad was down to fitness, something that the player himself seemed to contradict earlier.

Prior to being named on the bench for the trip to Manchester City tonight, Bale had only managed 230 minutes of Premier League action since returning to North London on loan from Real Madrid.

And former Tottenham midfielder Jenas is absolutely certain that there’s an issue between the two right now.

He told BBC Radio 5 Live: “It’s a big problem in the sense that Bale is probably the highest paid player at the club and he’s not playing.

“I don’t think it’s what Mourinho or Spurs fans expected. It’s clear as day to me there that there’s an issue between player and manager and I don’t see that situation getting sorted out either.”

The problem with high-profile players is that whether they’re playing or not, they’re always the main story.

Arsenal had it with Mesut Ozil for the past year and it simply isn’t conducive to a healthy environment at the club when somebody who isn’t playing gets more attention than those that are.

Tottenham have the option for a second loan this summer but barring a miracle, he’ll be going back to the Spanish capital.
