Paul Merson has praised Liverpool striker Divock Origi on Sky Sports News (5:24pm, December 4, 2021) for his goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend.
The former Arsenal star was impressed by Origi’s goal in injury time that saw Liverpool win the Premier League game 1-0.
Merson has suggested that Origi is an artist in coming off the bench and making a positive impact on matches.
The 26-year-old striker had actually come on as a substitute in the second half.
Like he normally does.
And Sky Sports pundit Merson was impressed.
Praise for Liverpool striker Origi
Merson said on Sky Sports News (5:24pm, December 4, 2021): “His touch and turn is phenomenal. It is a special goal to win a game.”
The Englishman added: “There’s an art of coming off the bench and doing well. Some players can come off the bench and do well, and some players come off the bench and it takes them forever to warm up and they never get into the game.”

An impact sub
Now, we know that Origi is not at the level of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
However, over the years, the 26-year-old £60,000-a-week (Spotrac) striker has shown his importance as an impact sub.
Even Michael Owen thinks that he is very good coming off the bench.
In our opinion, Origi could be important for Liverpool as the season progresses.
Remember, Mo Salah and Mane will be away on international duty during the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
That could open the door for Origi to get more playing time.
And make an impact.
