Graeme Souness has said that Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has been the Manager of the Season in the Premier League.
The £62,500-a-week (Total Sportel) man has done an exceptional job at St. James’ Park this campaign, as his side sit in third place in the table.
With how much Newcastle United have overachieved under Eddie Howe, Graeme Souness firmly believes he has been the Manager of the Season.
Souness calls Howe the Manager of the Season
Before the start of the season, predicting the Magpies to even finish in the top six would have been considered an unpopular opinion.
Branded as ‘fantastic’ by Jamie Carragher on Sky Sports, the English coach looks set to lead his side into the Champions League.
Graeme Souness has now made the case for Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has done the most impressive job in the Premier League.

“Not the best in the world, but you’re talking the Premier League. Is it a surprise if City win the league? If [Mikel] Arteta were to win it, there would be an argument for him to win the manager of the year but say Arsenal don’t win it and City win it, there’s a real argument for Eddie Howe at Newcastle”, he said on the Off The Ball.
“You think of what he’s done to Almiron, Joelinton. You’re thinking, ‘The Premier League is too tough for you. You better find another home.’ He’s turned them into real Premier League players. He’s done very well.”
HITC View: Hard to disagree with Souness
Considering Newcastle are yet to really splash the cash on big-money signings as well, Graeme Souness is right in making a case for Eddie Howe as having been the Manager of the Season.
Howe has created a tactical blueprint that simply makes his side one of the most difficult to face, whilst making St. James’ Park a real fortress.
On paper, Newcastle are not stacked with big names that would strike fear into their opponents.
However, the manner in which Eddie Howe has improved his players and implemented his vision has been second to none this season.
