Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has delivered an update on Isco’s situation at Real Madrid amid links to Arsenal.

The Spaniard has been linked with a move to the Premier League for years at this point, but it seems as though he could actually be leaving Real Madrid in the summer nine years on from his £23m move from Malaga.

The midfielder is reportedly wanted by Arsenal, and it seems as though the Gunners could land him on a free if they play their cards right.

What’s been said about Isco?

Romano delivered an update on the situation at Real Madrid.

“Real Madrid are still working on Kylian Mbappe and they are still working on new contract. I want to say that for Gareth Bale, there is no negotiations for a new contract. So he has huge chances to leave as a free agent, and it’s the same for Isco as well. No negotiations as of now, so there’s a chance for him to leave as a free agent,” Romano said

Bargain to be had

Whether or not Isco ends up at Arsenal or elsewhere, there’s certainly a bargain to be had here.

Yes, the midfielder hasn’t been consistent over the past 18 months or so, but let’s not forget, this is a four-time Champions League winner who has proven himself at the very top level.

Is he as good as he once was? Probably not, but Arsenal and other clubs in a similar situation certainly shouldn’t be turning their noses up at the chance to sign Isco on a free.
