Roy Keane has stated that Thiago Alcantara is ‘pure quality’ for Liverpool, as he told ITV Sport.

The outspoken TV pundit added that there were ‘question marks’ over whether the £25 million Liverpool star (Sky Sports) could deal with the physical side of the game – and he has passed that with flying colours.

During these past few months, the 31-year-old has perhaps been one of Liverpool’s best players.

There aren’t many that make the ball talk like the Spanish pass master and he has helped elevate an already world-class Liverpool midfield.

Thiago started Liverpool’s FA Cup final win over the weekend, as Keane shared his thoughts on the player.

“In the last few months, we have seen his quality and composure,” said Keane.

“We knew he had that, but it was a difficult start to his career at Liverpool, with one or two injuries.

“I think there were question marks over whether he would deal with the physical side of the game. He’s dealt with that.

“He is just pure quality. Getting time and space on the ball. His decision-making. He affects games. Outstanding player.”

THIAGO IS PROOF THAT STATS DON’T MATTER

On paper, it would state that Thiago only has three Premier League assists to his name.

But, he is proof that stats don’t matter in that regard because he is far, far better than that.

Thiago may not play the final killer pass all the time, but he is the one that dictates the tempo and plays a huge part in many Liverpool attacks.

But, in less than a few weeks, he will take part in his biggest test yet when he takes on the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kross in the Champions League final against Real Madrid.
