United ultimately signed Nemanja Matic from Chelsea instead, and the Serbian has made a promising start to his Old Trafford career.

While it remains to be seen how interested – if at all – the Red Devils were in Dier, Tottenham were able to keep hold of him nonetheless.
And despite scoring in England’s 2-1 win against Slovakia on Monday, the born-again midfielder’s performance left United fans convinced their side have made the right call.
