Speaking on his podcast, Phil Hay has been discussing Jack Harrison after he was left out of the England squad.
The winger has been brilliant so far this season, and with the likes of Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho faltering over at Manchester United, it was thought that the Leeds United man may have had a chance at a call-up.
However, his name was not on the list when the squad was named on Thursday, and, understandably, Leeds fans aren’t best pleased.
This decision has come as something of a surprise to those within the club too. According to Hay, there was a feeling within Leeds that Harrison was going to get a chance to strut his stuff for the Three Lions.

What’s been said?
Hay shared how Leeds were feeling about Harrison’s chances.
“They have had an eye on Harrison for a long time, and there was a feeling at Leeds and a hope at Leeds that he might get a go in these games as a last-ditch effort to throw his name in the frame for the World Cup. That hasn’t happened and on the basis that his numbers have been very good at the start of this season, it’s safe to assume that isn’t going to change before the World Cup takes place,” Hay said.
Should’ve gotten the nod
Leeds felt that Harrison was due a chance for England, and we can’t help but agree.
Harrison has been utterly brilliant so far this season, and if you’re picking the England squad on form alone, he surely should be in there ahead of the likes of Bukayo Saka and Jarrod Bowen who have had slow starts to this campaign.
Harrison is a brilliant player, so he will get his chance eventually, but his dreams of playing in this World Cup are seemingly all over now.
