This Albert Sambi Lokonga to Arsenal move is turning into a bit of a saga.

It has been over a month since the Gunners were first linked with the Anderlecht midfielder.

But despite the speculation, there hasn’t been much by way of concrete developments – until this week.

DHNet reported in Belgium on Monday that Lokonga was due to a complete a £15 million move [The Guardian] to Arsenal this week.

And Voetbalkrant has reported that he will have travelled to North London today to undergo his medical.

The report adds that there is already ‘white smoke’ from the player’s entourage to suggest that a transfer to the Emirates Stadium is as good as done.

Yves Missouma?

If and when Arsenal sign Lokonga, it’ll effectively confirm that Yves Bissouma won’t be coming to the Emirates Stadium.

He and Lokonga are very similar sorts of midfield players and truth be told, signing the two of them frankly doesn’t make much sense.

Even if Granit Xhaka goes – and the Swiss midfielder is heavily tipped to join Roma – then it would seem as if Lokonga is his replacement.

Bissouma would’ve cost twice what the 21-year-old is, with Brighton wanting £30 million, and time will tell whether Arsenal were being smart or just cheap.
