Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, journalist Ian McGarry has given an update on Mikel Arteta and his job security at Arsenal.
It’s no secret that Arteta is under pressure at the Emirates Stadium. He’s taken the Gunners to the bottom of the Premier League, and it’s fair to say this stint has been something of a disaster.
Some fans lost patience with the Spaniard a long time ago, but now it seems as though the players are no longer buying into his project with the squad reportedly doubting his tactics.
What’s been said?
The journalist shared what he knows about Arteta.
“Arteta himself has come under pressure, and the players themselves do not appear to be responding to their head coach as well as the fact they’ve not been achieving results, and when results don’t go a club’s way the players will like to point fingers,” McGarry said.
“It is our information here at The Transfer Window, that there is indeed doubt within the dressing room about Arteta’s tactics and the way they are applied. While there is also some unrest with regards to morale and players who were wanting to leave and didn’t leave are not training well, while other players who have come in, some are integrating better than others.”

Time is ticking
Arsenal may well beat Norwich on Saturday, but regardless of their result against the Canaries, it doesn’t sound as though Arteta will be in this job for much longer.
Indeed, if the players aren’t training well and don’t buy into the tactics, it’s going to be almost impossible for him to turn this around.
Of course, he still could turn things around, but the probability is that he won’t be able to get the Gunners to where they need to be.
