Alex Crook has provided a major update about Feyenoord coach Arne Slot possibly becoming Tottenham Hotspur’s next manager.

The talkSPORT chief added that ‘there is a meeting today’ on Wednesday between Feyenoord and Arne Slot’s representatives, as they try to find out how much Tottenham Hotspur need to pay for the Dutch title-winning coach.

It seems as though Spurs want the 44-year-old to be their next manager and he is their ‘top target’, as Crook told talkSPORT Breakfast (24/05/23 at 7:15 am).

After hiring three defensive-minded coaches, it’s fair to say that Daniel Levy is now going down a road where the next man through the door isn’t going to have a defensive tactical thought in his body.

Whilst Spurs fans are annoyed at the club’s decline since sacking Mauricio Pochettino, who is Chelsea bound, the other big issue is the lack of entertainment on the pitch.

Well, as Crook explained, if the north London club can get a deal done for Slot, then he will provide that in bucket loads because he is your typical, forward-thinking modern-day coach.

“I think there is a meeting due to take place today, which is highly significant,” said Crook. “It’s between Arne Slot’s representatives and Feyenoord.

“They are going to find out exactly how much it’s going to cost Spurs to get Slot out of his contract. I think we can say now, although Tottenham won’t admit it publicly, that he is their top target. He ticks those boxes. He is a young and upcoming manager. Plays attractive football. And he is very good on the training ground at improving players.”

ATTACKING FOOTBALL NEEDS TO RETURN TO SPURS

A number of these current Spurs players have played defensive-minded football, yet conceded goals for fun and still managed to ship a ridiculous amount, especially away from home.

If Slot does indeed join, then whilst attacking football is a given, another area that he will be tested on is trying to improve the current faltering stars.

From Eric Dier to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, will these guys be handed a new chance by their new manager? Or will they be shown the door straight away? The fans would probably say do the latter.
