Arsenal legend Jack Wilshere could be about to embark on his first proper managerial journey.
In 2022, after over a decade in the game, Jack Wilshere decided to hang up his boots after injuries ruined the latter stages of his career.
That road has now led to the 31-year-old coaching Arsenal’s U-18s, with journalist Charles Watts reporting that there has been an approach from MLS side, Colorado Rapids to become their first-team manager.
The Arsenal expert stated that ‘nothing is decided yet’, but he urged Jack Wilshere to stay put because things aren’t going well with the Rapids.
It was pointed out that the powers that be in Colorado aren’t backing those in the dugout and there is ‘a lot of fan unrest’, as he told Inside Arsenal.
As a result, the former England international should be careful when making a call because there is a lot of time left for him to prove his worth in the dugout.

Jack Wilshere the manager
“Jack Wilshere has had an interview with Colorado Rapids about becoming their first-team coach,” said Watts. “Nothing decided yet.
“I think this could be a move too soon for Jack at 31 taking on a really difficult job. Where the Rapids are really, really struggling. There is a lot of fan unrest and the ownership doesn’t seem to be backing the team as much.
“It just feels like a difficult job for Jack. Admittedly, you could look at it from a different point of view and say ‘they can’t get any worse’.
“I think he needs to stay in the job for another 12 months. He has only been in the job one year at the under-18 level and he went into that job totally inexperienced. It was his first gig. It just feels to me like stick it around for another year.”

Wilshere should stay
It’s understandable if a job in the MLS is too hard for Wilshere to turn down, but at the end of the day, he has plenty of years left in the locker.
It’s all about climbing that ladder for the former midfielder and he can go as slow as possible.
Usually, in his situation, players are still playing at the top level, then hitting the manager scene post-40. But he is in the early stages of his managerial life and doesn’t need to make a big call so soon.
