Darren Bent told his talkSPORT show that he doesn’t think Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson is ‘world-class’.

The former striker shared that ‘there is a difference’ between being an ‘influential’ player, which he believes the Liverpool captain is, and being seen as a ‘world-class’ performer.

Henderson has achieved what many great Liverpool captains in the past have struggled to do – help the club win the Premier League title.

But when it was put to Bent that Henderson is a ‘world-class’ player, he shared his thoughts as to why the combative performer shouldn’t be seen in such high regard.

“You would have him [Henderson] as world-class?” asked Bent. “I wouldn’t have Jordan as world-class. I think there is a little bit of a difference between influential players because that’s certainly what he is.

“He’s a leader for Liverpool, the way he plays, the way he presses, the way he works hard and drives his team on. I think there is a difference between influential and world-class.

“Jordan did fantastic for Liverpool, he’s their captain and their leader, but [comparing him] with Roy Keane? The guy won seven Premier League titles or something crazy like that.”

Liverpool’s trophies under Jurgen Klopp

  1. Champions League

    2018/19

  2. UEFA Super Cup

    2019

  3. FIFA Club World Cup

    2019

  4. Premier League

    2019/20

Ever since his £20 million move from Sunderland [BBC Sport], it has been quite the journey for Henderson, who has had a number of lows on Merseyside.

But the great thing is that he has overcome those moments, picked himself up and played a huge part in the club becoming European and Premier League champions in recent seasons.

He will forever be a club legend at Anfield but now it’s a case of how far he can push his legacy with those Liverpool supporters.
