Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp looked a relieved and euphoric figure at Anfield tonight.

His outfit secured a massive 1-0 victory over West Ham United to move three points behind Manchester City at the Premier League’s summit.

It wasn’t a pretty performance by Liverpool, but it was effective and the German boss was delighted at full time.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager offered a series of passionate fist pumps to the Anfield faithful directly after the game.

This is a common habit of Klopp, but there seemed an extra bit of joy in tonight’s rendition after clinging on to their three points against the Hammers.

Speaking to BeIN Sport, here’s what Andy Gray said of the footage.

“He’s delighted, There he goes [reacting to him jogging at the supporters]. This was a big night. When you get to this stage, 11 games left. You’ve earned the right to have a couple of off days. That happens. This was one of them. They were nowhere near their best, Liverpool.”

Six days after lifting the Carabao Cup, and after beating Norwich City in the FA Cup in midweek, Liverpool looked a tad jaded against the Irons.

So to still receive three points despite a subpar performace, well Klopp has every right to be absolutely delighted.

This was a major test of Liverpool’s Premier League title credentials and lesser outfits, with lesser mentalities, might’ve dropped at least two points.

However, City manager Pep Guardiola will know that the Reds are well up for a battle for the final couple of months of what may prove a fascinating campaign.
