Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrice Muamba has been discussing Bruno Guimaraes and how he’s adapted to life in Newcastle.
The pundit was naming his Team of the Season so far, and, of course, Guimaraes earned a spot on his side.
Muamba wasn’t only blown away by Guimaraes’ performances, he also noted just how well the player has taken to living on Tyneside and how much the fans adore him.
In fact, Muamba went as far as to say that there has never been a player who has been so immediately beloved by a fanbase as Guimaraes has been at Newcastle.

Never done before
Muamba spoke about the Brazilian and his relationship with the fans.
“Sitting in front of the defence I’ll go with Bruno Guimaraes. There hasn’t been a player who has signed for a football club who the fans have taken to him like this guy. The moment he signed for Newcastle and every game he’s played he just gets better and stronger,” Muamba said.
“His influence on the transition is exceptional, he links up play, he can dribble, he has everything in his locker, he has goals, passing, stamina, he can tackle. Bruno Guimaraes is one of the Geordie’s favourite right now. He’s embraced the Geordie culture and what it’s like to play for Newcastle and you have to apprciate that and he’s getting better every single game. He’s a core member of this team helping the club go forward.”
Shearer-esque
The only player in history we can think of who was immediately beloved in the way Guimaraes is was Alan Shearer.
Shearer, of course, was a Newcastle fan favourite from day one due to his ability and the fact that he was a boyhood fan, but Guimaraes is a slightly different case.
Coming from Lyon, many Newcastle supporters may not have known all that much about this player when he signed in January, but due to the optimism around the club and the hype around this signing, he was an immediate cult hero.
Guimaraes has quickly paid back the love that has been shown to him on the pitch, and there’s an argument to make that he’s already a Newcastle legend.
