According to Phil Hay, Jesse Marsch has some interesting plans for his Leeds players during the World Cup in November.
What’s the story?
Well, the likes of Luke Ayling, Liam Cooper and others are set to be without first-team football for over a month this winter, due to the mid-season World Cup.
Instead of asking his non-international players to continue turning up to Thorp Arch throughout that period, Marsch is thinking about taking his squad to the United States.
That is according to Phil Hay – who works as Leeds correspondent for The Athletic.
The Scot wrote: “There has been talk of Jesse Marsch and his squad heading to the USA during the World Cup, possibly to San Francisco, to tick over and stay in shape. Their plans should become clearer as the tournament gets closer.”

Now, that sounds much better than making the players go through their usual daily routines, while being forced to watch some of their teammates take part in the World Cup.
Having said that, Hay also commented on the current postponements due to the death of the Queen, and how Leeds are set to go large periods without playing a game this season.
That is far from ideal for Marsch, especially as the American has overseen a strong start to the campaign.
Jesse Marsch thinks differently at Leeds
Whatever the 48-year-old decides to do with his squad during the World Cup, we’re confident it will go down well.
According to The Athletic, Marsch adopts an empathetic style towards his players.
For example, when Manchester United travelled to Australia for pre-season over the summer, there were strict curfews imposed on the players.
However – as The Athletic detail – Marsch instead decided to trust his players to not overstep the line, telling them that the line between having fun and being disrespectful was obvious.
The American seems to have created a tight-knit squad in Yorkshire, and whatever happens with the Leeds players during the World Cup, Marsch will surely have their best interests at heart.
