Kevin Campbell has bigged up Eddie Nketiah and his performance during Arsenal’s 2-1 win over FC Zurich in the Europa League on Thursday night.

The 23-year-old scored and assisted during the game in Switzerland, including his precise cross for Marquinhos to open the scoring and Campbell claimed ‘there aren’t many players who can deliver a cross like that’, as he told the Highbury Squad.

Nketiah did give away the penalty to allow the home side back into the match, but he soon made up for it by scoring the winning goal in the second half.

After signing a new contract in the summer, and struggling for large parts of last season, Nketiah’s game is now starting to pick up.

It has to happen for Nketiah now because, if he doesn’t, then Arsenal, alongside their new number nine, Gabriel Jesus, will just run away.

Nonetheless, it has been a strong start to the new season for the Englishman and Campbell is liking what he is seeing from the Hale-End star.

“That ball from Eddie Nketiah,” said Campbell. “I am telling you now that there aren’t many players who can deliver a cross like that.

“If you watch that cross, then the defender is in pole position. The delivery of the ball takes the defender completely out of the game. And then it was a really smart finish.”

NKETIAH NEEDS TO KEEP BANGING ON THAT DOOR

Those regular starts for Nketiah won’t come any time soon because of Jesus’s form and Gabriel Martinelli’s very strong start to the season.

But the best he can do is provide Arteta with a selection headache and his performances in Europe will help him a long, long way in doing that.

Arteta has proven with Martinelli, Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka how he can lift the game of a young gun.

Nketiah will be hoping to be the next player to break down that door because he has been waiting for that regular chance to show what he is all about.
