Gary Neville told Monday Night Football on Sky Sports (23/08/21 at 7:05 pm) that West Ham will have an ‘outstanding’ transfer window if they can sign Jesse Lingard and Kurt Zouma.

The former right-back suggested that ‘there are talks’ of Lingard possibly returning to West Ham and the club also adding Chelsea’s hard-hitting defender to their ranks.

Both would improve West Ham’s XI, no doubt, and after their 4-1 win against Leicester City last night, it certainly makes them more attractive.

But before that win, Neville was asked about David Moyes trying to match what the club did last season, as he commented on their transfer business.

“Difficult in some ways,” said Neville. “But I think they have been quiet in the transfer window.

“I would say they have been quiet on the ins and quiet on the outs. I would say that’s a good transfer window for West Ham.

“They had a really good team together. To keep that team together is something that’s a real positive.

“If they can add to it this week. There are talks of Jesse Lingard, talks of Zouma from Chelsea then that will be an outstanding transfer window.”

With Lingard, it’s a no-brainer for the Hammers because he would transform the team from the get-go.

One of the main reasons why Moyes was able to get over that Europa League line last season was because of Lingard’s introduction in January.

The energetic midfielder lifted this West Ham team and showcased his goalscoring talents that saw him become a fan favourite pretty much instantly.

With West Ham winning two from two – and scoring eight goals in the process – imagine what they could do with Lingard sprinkled on top.
