Theo Walcott’s past comments on reported Everton target Danny Welbeck

Everton boss Marco Silva is reportedly looking to bring Danny Welbeck in at Goodison Park.

Theo Walcott told the Telegraph back in 2014 that Danny Welbeck was a ‘very exciting’ signing for Arsenal, and now it seems that the pair could be reunited at Everton.

Walcott and Welbeck have played together at international level with England and at Arsenal previously, and it seems that they could link up again at Everton next season.

The Daily Mirror claim that Everton are looking to sign Welbeck, with Marco Silva looking to strengthen his forward line.

And Walcott’s past comments on the potential Everton signing suggest he would welcome the chance to play with Welbeck again.

“He’ll get more opportunities and he’s got a point to prove,” he said. “I know he’s worked hard and he’s still very young, and I think the boss will enjoy working with him. The fans definitely will – he’s very exciting and he’s very strong.

“One thing I would tell him to do is be a little more selfish because he’s unselfish at times, which isn’t a bad thing but I think he’ll get more goals if he’s more selfish.”

Welbeck may not have fulfilled his potential at Arsenal, which has been largely down a succession of injury problems.

The former Manchester United man may well be a smart addition to Everton’s squad though, as he could improve their attack.

Welbeck could play out wide or lead the line for Everton, as Silva looks to improve his attacking options.

Everton are yet to make a signing this summer, with Silva’s side struggling to get deals over the line.
