Everton beat West Ham United 2-0 at Goodison Park at the weekend.

Theo Walcott celebrates his goal during the Carabao Cup third round match between Everton and Southampton at Goodison Park on October 2, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

Everton attacker Theo Walcott has told the Guardian that Marco Silva encouraged his players not to feel the pressure before they took on West Ham United.

Everton went into the game sat in the relegation zone, with frustrations rising at Goodison Park.

Another defeat could have spelt disaster for Silva, and would also have seen Everton’s players come in for fierce criticism.

However, Everton came out with all guns blazing and absolutely dominated West Ham.

The Toffees won 2-0, but in truth they could have picked up a victory by an even greater margin.

And Walcott praised Silva’s approach before the game, as he took the pressure off the Toffees squad.

“The manager stressed that he wanted us to play with freedom and he took the pressure off us completely,” Walcott said. “It was about enjoyment, not worrying about the game.”
