Theo Walcott joined Everton from Arsenal on Wednesday.
Toffees new-boy Theo Walcott addressed the media today, ahead of his side’s clash with West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League tomorrow, and shared the reason why he was so attracted to Everton, as quoted by the Daily Mail.
The 28-year-old hardly featured for Arsenal this season, playing just 64 minutes of Premier League football, and a move away from the Emirates could prove to be just what he needs to help breath fire back into his stuttering career.
Walcott’s demise this season has been a huge surprise, considering his fine campaign for the Gunners last term, when he scored 19 goals for Arsene Wenger’s side.
The pacey forward called time on his career in north London on Wednesday, however, after completing his £20 million switch to Everton.
He spoke to the media today, and opened up on how much of an influence Sam Allardyce had in convincing him to move to Goodison Park, as quoted by the Daily Mail:
“I felt the manager seems to get the best out of the players, especially when first coming in. I had a brief spell with the manager at England and I wanted more of that. That belief the manager had in bringing me here made my decision very easy.”
Toffees fans will be hoping that Walcott hits the ground running and helps his new team climb the table.
And if he manages to impress for Allardcye’s side he might just have a chance of forcing his way into Gareth Southgate’s plans for the World Cup in the summer.
