Everton’s Theo Walcott feels as though the future is very bright for him and his team-mates on Merseyside.
Everton winger Theo Walcott has told the club’s official website that both he and the team as a whole will be better next season.
The former Arsenal star joined the Toffees in a £20 million switch in January and has since proven himself a good signing, grabbing three goals and three assists in 13 Premier League outings for the Merseyside club.
On the whole it has been a disappointing season for Everton, who can’t finish higher than eighth, despite a recruitment drive which totalled over £150 million last summer.
But Walcott reveals that the imminent relocation of his family to Liverpool will further aid his transition to life at Goodison Park, and anticipates that the team as a whole will “definitely” improve in time for next season.
“I definitely would say so,” he told Everton’s website when asked if the only way is up for him and the team.
“With my family still being down south, I have had to juggle that with being up here. I’m settled in here but they are coming up in July and that will help me even more, because it’s the one piece in the jigsaw that hasn’t been fitted yet.
“So there’s that, I will have a full pre-season with the team, there may be other signings coming in as well, so there is definitely more to come.”
Everton fans should love Walcott’s optimism and, well, he’s probably not wrong.
He will surely get a lot better when his family join him on Merseyside, and owner Farhad Moshiri is likely to sanction another spending spree this summer which could see another influx of talent.
