Everton will be saying goodbye to Theo Walcott this summer.

The Toffees paid £20million to sign Walcott from Arsenal in January 2018, as well as giving him a hefty £110,000-a-week deal.

Walcott was one of Sam Allardyce’s few signings at Everton, but he he really didn’t return much on Everton’s investment.

In 85 games for Everton, Walcott managed just 11 goals and nine assists before being loaned out to former club Southampton in October.

Walcott’s emotional return to the South Coast saw him bag three goals and three assists in 20 outings for the Saints, whilst knowing that his Everton career was likely over.

His contract comes to an end this summer, and it has long been expected that he would return to Southampton on a permanent basis.

This morning, Walcott hinted at a deal when he tweeted about wanting to make more memories with Southampton for the ‘next couple of years’.

Just 15 minutes later, Southampton announced that Walcott had indeed signed a two-year deal to return to the club on a permanent basis.

Walcott is clearly delighted to be back home for good, and will be looking to make those memories he mentioned earlier today.
