Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, Sam Allardyce has been discussing Leeds United’s situation and whether or not he thinks the Yorkshire club will stay up.
The Whites haven’t had the best of seasons so far, but after a number of promising acquisitions in the January transfer window, things are looking up for Jesse Marsch’s side.
Allardyce thinks that Leeds will stay up, stating that their main problem has been finishing – an issue that can be cured if one of their strikers find their shooting boots.
Allardyce tips Leeds to stay up
The ex-Bolton boss gave his verdict on Leeds.
“Oh yeah, I think so [they’ll stay up]. I think one of their problems has been getting the ball in the back of the net at the end of the day,” Allardyce said.
“They have created but not been able finish, which was a particular problem for Brighton but the new manager at Brighton seems to have cured that now, as they seem to be scoring goals for fun now.
“Leeds seem to create the chances but not have the right guy to put the ball in the back of the net.”
Got to improve
It’s all well and good to say that Leeds need to improve their finishing in order to stay up, but, as ever, that is easier said than done.
Leeds are now set to be without their top goalscorer for the next two months, Georginio Rutter isn’t exactly a prolific striker, while Patrick Bamford can’t stay fit to save his life.
Leeds may well stay up this season, but the stark reality is that they are in this dogfight.
