Tyler Roberts has sent a message to Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier on his Instagram story by posting ‘the youngest in charge’.

The Leeds forward was reacting to his teammate becoming the youngest goalkeeper to make 50 Premier League appearances.

The 21-year-old has been a key figure for Leeds since their promotion to the promised land and an underrated performer in between the sticks.

Whilst in today’s game, goalkeeper’s are playing better and on a more regular basis at a younger age, compared to past perceptions where you peak when you are over 30.

It’s still some doing for Meslier to be rocking up every week and looking as comfortable as an experienced pro in goal.

Hugo Lloris is France’s number one goalkeeper and a World Cup winner, but with the Tottenham man set to hit 35 this month, he is going to need replacing sooner rather than later.

Given the road Meslier is currently going down, they should look no further than the Lorient-born superstar in the future.

Unless there is some drastic change, he won’t be France’s number one for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

But there is no reason why he can’t target the next European Championships to take Lloris’ place.

If he does reach that goal in a few years time, then that means he is producing the goods at Elland Road.
