Cam Young is in a great spot heading into the final round as he chases his first PGA Tour win. His recent form has even drawn comparisons to Scottie Scheffler in one specific area.
The 28-year-old American, closing in on 100 starts without a victory, has shown promise several times this season. Now he has a real chance to finally break through.
Young sits three shots clear of Joel Dahmen at 15-under par, although there are several others not far behind.
But with how well Young is playing, it wouldn’t be a shock if this was the week he finally got over the line.
Back-to-back rounds of 63 and 62 have placed Young in rare company. In fact, only Scottie Scheffler ranks ahead of him in one key stat this season.

Young carded eight birdies in round two, closing with a 62 that stands out as one of the season’s top performances.
His strong play has put him alongside Scheffler, whose form this year has been outstanding.
As highlighted by Justin Ray on X, Young’s 126 is now the second-best 36-hole score of the year, just behind Scheffler’s remarkable start at the Byron Nelson.
Cam Young still searching for that first PGA Tour win
Much like Rory McIlroy needed a Masters title to complete his set, Young is still waiting for that breakthrough moment on the PGA Tour.
Young has seven runner-up finishes and 22 other top tens, but so far, a victory has always stayed out of reach.
He has now played in 93 events without a win, and the longer it takes, the more pressure builds. It’s one of those situations where getting over the line becomes harder with each close call.
This week, holding a three-shot lead and playing well, anything less than a win will feel like another missed chance.
But golf doesn’t always follow the script, especially with two rounds still to play. There is plenty of room for things to change.
