Arsenal star Jorginho has done well for club and country over the years.

The Gunners ace arrived at the Emirates Stadium in January as a well-decorated football veteran.

Jorginho has made over 500 competitive club appearances over his career, and is closing in on 50 Italy caps.

The Arsenal midfielder also has seven trophies to his name, including Euro 2020 and the 2021 Champions League.

Jorginho has certainly had his fair share of ups and down with the Azzurri.

In the space of nine months, Italy went from winning the Euros to failing to make a second consecutive World Cup.

And on Thursday, the Arsenal ace experienced yet more bad luck at international level.

His Italy side fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of England in Naples in Euro 2024 qualifying.

The match marked Italy’s first Euro qualifier defeat in 41 games, dating back to September 2006.

In addition, Jorginho struggled in the match, with Goal Italia deeming him one of their ‘worst’ on the night.

“Jorginho found himself suffocated in the middle of the Phillips-Rice-Bellingham trio,” they wrote.

“And he is unable to create any chances or stop them.

“It was also a bad evening for Toloi, who struggled against Kane and his teammates.”

Not a good start

Jorginho’s Italy really struggled against England in the first half.

And though they picked themselves up after the interval, they didn’t have enough to claim a result.

Italy are next in qualifying action against Malta on Sunday, while England face Ukraine on the same day.

After the international break comes to an end, Arsenal will face Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium on 1 April.

The Gunners remain top of the Premier League table and hopefully Jorginho can play a big part in their first title since the Invincibles of 2004.
