Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos has reacted to Saturday’s defeat.

The Greek centre-back is on loan with Nurnberg in the Bundesliga 2 and yesterday threw up a disappointing derby day.

Mavropanos, who joined Arsenal in Januay of 2018, played the full 90 minutes as Nurnberg lost 1-0 to neighbours Greuther Furth.

Here’s how the 22-year-old reacted to the defeat on Twitter – and how Gunners fans responded to him.

Mavropanos is something of a popular figure among Arsenal fans, despite barely featuring for the club.

The big defender, who was one of Arsene Wenger’s last signings in North London, only has seven Premier League appearances under his belt since arriving in England – and it’s only going to get harder for him.

Mikel Arteta has a lot of centre-back options on the books right now – David Luiz, Shkodran Mustafi, Rob Holding, Calum Chambers, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and William Saliba – and given that only two or three can play, things don’t look that promising for Mavropanos.

Worse still, Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign Dayot Upamecano [Tuttosport], another centre-back.

Mavropanos will be back at Arsenal for pre-season ahead of the 2020-21 campaign and unless he blows away the coaching staff at London Colney, it’s hard to see his first-team prospects improving.
