Another thrilling gameweek of Premier League action is done. We saw some diabolical displays, including from Arsenal and Tottenham men. Who were the worst performers (max three per club)?
Goalkeeper: Petr Cech (Arsenal)
Faced just 8 shots and conceded 3 times in a big game. Yes Arsenal’s defence was poor but the stopper was pitifully weak on all the goals.
Centre-back: Shane Duffy (Brighton)
Not only did Duffy lose Emre Can for Liverpool’s first goal but he was bamboozled on the break for both of Roberto Firmino’s as well. A bad afternoon at the office for the Brighton man.
Centre-back: Davinson Sanchez (Tottenham)
Was defending quite well before a horrific elbow saw him sent off. Ruined any serious chances Tottenham had of winning against Watford.
Centre-back: Laurent Koscielny (Arsenal)
A poor pass led to Manchester United’s opening goal, and he was ritually humiliating by Paul Pogba for the third.
Right-wing: Tommy Smith (Huddersfield)
Didn’t do anything when Huddersfield faced by a fairly gentle Everton wing attack. Created 0 chances and couldn’t complete any of his 3 crosses.
Defensive midfield: Mohammad Diamé (Newcastle United)
A defensive midfielder who added little defence to midfield after the first 15 minutes when the high press faded. Just terrible.
Central midfield: Paul Pogba (Manchester United)
Pogba was actually the best outfielder on the park at the Emirates, but he instantly goes into the worst XI because of his staggeringly stupid red card which not only prevented Manchester United from getting an even bigger win but severely handicaps them in next week’s major game of the season, the Derby vs Manchester City.
Left-wing: Matt Richie (Newcastle United)
Ritchie is not a wing-back and it showed as Chelsea ran him ragged all afternoon (and he didn’t even create much). Committed a ridiculous challenge to give away the penalty that sealed the trophy, also.
Attacking midfield: Mesut Ozil (Arsenal)
Another big game, another mostly anonymous display from Mesut Ozil. The German played some nice passes, but was otherwise just sort of chilling out when the Gunners needed him to take the game by the scruff of the neck and play those killer passes to cut United open.
Striker: Hal Robson-Kanu (West Brom)
Despite playing lowly Crystal Palace, Hal Robson-Kanu’s shocking miss after just 8 minutes set the tone for this game and ensured that West Brom could only draw.
Striker: Harry Kane (Tottenham)
Big Daddy Kane did some half-steppin’ at the weekend. Had just 2 shots, 0 on target, and no goals even though Tottenham were desperate to get a win and right their season.
