Danny Murphy has backed Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to sign Moises Caicedo, as he highlighted the Brighton and Hove Albion star’s ability to play at right-back.
There was a lot of noise around Trent Alexander-Arnold’s performances for Liverpool this season, especially his defensive displays, as Murphy suggested the two can interchange if they played together.
The Reds have already added Alexis Mac Allister to their ranks this summer and Murphy is certain that Moises Caicedo ‘suits’ his former side, as he told FIVE.
The 21-year-old was one of many top performers for a Brighton team that secured European football for the first time in the club’s history this season.
Back in January, things could have been different for the hard-hitting midfielder because Arsenal were keen to sign him, only for bid after bid to be rejected.
It’s pretty clear that Liverpool aren’t going to spend big on a single player, or else, they would have signed Jude Bellingham, who is now a Real Madrid player, as Murphy shared his thoughts on Caicedo and how much he could cost.
“With Caicedo, who I think you would get for a little less (than Rice),” said Murphy. “I know they turned down ‘x’ amount during the season (from Arsenal).
“(Caicedo would cost) a bit less (than £80 million), I think. But that’s because it was January (on Brighton turning down £70m from Arsenal in the winter). There will be a clause in it (Caicedo’s contract).
“With Caicedo, the reason why I would think he would suit Liverpool is the way Trent is evolving into this central midfield role, have you seen Caicedo play right-back, by the way?! He can do both.
“He has got that physicality that Klopp loves – and the other thing I like about the two options I said, you know they can do it in the Prem. They don’t need that year to settle in.”

How much would Caicedo cost?
Liverpool have already knocked on Brighton’s door and managed to secure a World Cup winner for £35 million, but will they be second-time lucky?
Given that there are suggestions that Declan Rice could be joining Arsenal for £100 million, then surely those at the Amex Stadium have every right to inflate the price for Caicedo.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if Klopp is a big fan of the hard-hitting midfielder, but this just might be the case where he is priced out.
