Speaking on his State of the Union Podcast, former USA defender, Alexi Lalas has been discussing Christian Pulisic’s future and a potential move to Newcastle United.

Newcastle have been linked with Pulisic for a little while now, and heading into the summer, the winger is looking for a new club to join.

Numerous teams across Europe have been credited with an interest, but Lalas would like to see Pulisic stay in the Premier League with Newcastle, stating that he would really suit the way the Magpies are trying to play right now and he’d be a level up on what they already have in their attack.

Lalas wants Pulisic at Newcastle

The pundit spoke about Pulisic’s future.

“Newcastle United we know are headed in an upwards trajectory. They are a work in progress but what a hell of a work in progress it is. Sooner rather than later they will find a way to that elite status, which, let’s be honest, is being bought right now. In a good way though, I want to see the ascension of Newcastle,” Lalas said.

“If I’m Christian Pulisic, the way they play, he would be a welcome addition. It’s not the highest level so the pressure wouldn’t be as great, and he represents a skill and ability and talent that is the next level for Newcastle in terms of what they are trying to do.”

Makes sense

A move to Newcastle would make the world of sense for someone like Pulisic.

As Lalas says, there’s less pressure at a club like Newcastle than there is at Chelsea, while Eddie Howe’s style of play suits him to a tee.

Pulisic would be wise to opt for a move to Newcastle. He’d be working in a team that is on an upwards trajectory and under a manager who has shown he knows how to revitalise a career in recent years.

This is a move that makes sense for all parties.
