Thierry Henry has spoken highly about how Harry Kane has transformed into a ‘complete’ striker at Tottenham Hotspur, as he told Amazon Prime Sport.
If the footballing books in England were closed tomorrow, then someone like Henry would go down as one of the greatest strikers to have graced these shores.
Tottenham fans may have hated him for scoring goal after goal in north London derbies or just dominating the Premier League during the peak years of his footballing powers.
But whilst Henry used to cause havoc to one side of north London, to the enjoyment of Arsenal fans, all of that has now flipped on its head.
Kane is now the dominant striker in the capital, the England captain is the one who holds the record for most goals scored in NLD (14), and if he stays at Spurs for the rest of his career, then it will only be a matter of time before he beats Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League goals record (260 goals).
But whilst it’s his deadly finishing that has taken centre stage for the majority of his career, he’s also become that creator from deep, and that’s what has caught Henry’s eye.
“What he became is that he became a complete striker,” said Henry. “There is a difference. Being a goalscorer, like he was at the beginning.
“But the way he has evolved is second to none. The way he sees a pass. He comes into the midfield. He has one eye for the goal. He can score on corners, on everything. The only thing that is missing is free-kicks, if I can put it out there.
“But he is complete. That’s me saying that with my (Arsenal hat) – that’s what I like about his game. He’s thinking about assists. He’s enjoying them. He’s looking for them. He has been asked to play a different way.
“But I love the fact that he became a complete striker. That I respect because, with the goals, we knew. We know the big man (Alan Shearer). He is here with us and that record is going to go, I am afraid.”
ALREADY A LEGEND
Kane is edging closer to hitting a double century in the Premier League and then he will have Shearer in his sight.
The interesting thing here is that the 29-year-old has less than two years left on his current contract, and unless he goes on a madness, he won’t be getting 68 goals during that period.
Therefore, whilst Shearer won’t probably admit it, deep down, he will be hoping Kane does perhaps move abroad because that’s the only chance he is getting of maintaining his current crown.
Other than that, Kane is already a legend at his club, in English football, so breaking that record and possibly winning a trophy or two will only elevate his status further.
