Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has praised Reiss Nelson on the club’s official website for his performance against Bodø/Glimt on Thursday evening.

Arsenal got the better of Bodø/Glimt 1-0 away from home in UEFA Europa League Group A last night.

Bukayo Saka scored the only goal of the match in the 24th minute.

Nelson started the match for the Gunners and played for 59 minutes.

And Arsenal boss Arteta has praised the 22-year-old English winger for his effort.

Mikel Arteta on Reiss Nelson for Arsenal v Bodø/Glimt

Arteta said: “So a lot of players, Reiss for example – he hasn’t played for three and a half months.

“The way he was trying to go with it. Every single player, the ones that they came from the bench – performing better or worse, attitude level (and) willingness to win…top.”

Struggling

In our view, Reiss Nelson did not have a particularly great game for Arsenal against Bodø/Glimt last night.

The winger was making his first start for nearly two years, and he failed to show why Arteta should use him more often.

The English youngster could not impose himself on the game and did not always make the right decisions when he had the ball.

Nelson has made only one substitute appearance in the Premier League and has played just 67 minutes in the UEFA Europa League for the Gunners so far this campaign.

It is hard to see how the winger could establish himself in the Arsenal starting lineup anytime soon.
