Mason Mount believes Manchester City have a special talent on their hands in the form of England star Phil Foden.

Speaking to the Guardian ahead of tonight’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Hungary, Mount lauded the quality and potential of his Premier League rival and England talent Foden.

Foden and Mount are just two players in what is beginning to look like a new golden generation for England. The duo were part of the Three Lions squad that made it to the Euro 2020 final in the summer.

And the City winger has gone from strength to strength since asserting himself in Pep Guardiola’s starting XI. Foden has played a key role in the Manchester giants’ strong start to the Premier League season.

And for Mount, Foden is a special talent who has the potential to go all the way to the top. The duo will also be hoping for a successful partnership at international level with England ahead of next year’s World Cup in Qatar.

Mount said: “I know what Phil is about. I’ve played against him many times and not just in the professional game, at academy level, too.”

The £88k-a-week Chelsea star added: “The passes he sees, the passes he picks out, the way he moves with the ball. He is a top, top, top player. To see him do it on the big stage, like he’s done many times, it’s special.”

With Foden a key player for both club and country at just 21-years-old, it’s no wonder the City star is already winning plaudits from his peers. And with the playmaker again starting the season well, it is shaping up to be another exciting year for the Stockport-born superstar.
