The Argentine has been linked with a move to West Ham in January.
The story
West Ham United have reportedly made a massive bid to sign Argentinian striker Lucas Pratto. The Sun report that the Hammers have made a £12 million bid for the Atletico Mineiro striker and they are hopeful of talking to the 28-year-old next month.
Lucas Pratto
Positives
The bullish striker is the sort of mercurial and charismatic forward that West Ham fans love and he would also be filling a big void at the club – who are desperately in need of more striking options.
He is also clearly just reaching his prime. He has just broken into the Argentine national team and has already scored two goals for Albiceleste. His scoring record at club level has also been very impressive for the past two seasons.
Negatives
The striker has very little experience of European football.
He has a season on loan in Norway under his belt from 2008-09 with Lyn and an unsuccessful stint in Italian football with Genoa.
Lucas Pratto rises highest
The verdict?
Pratto is unproven and at that price could be a costly flop for West Ham. There are certainly better options closer to home they should consider ahead of the mercurial Argentine.
This is a move they should probably avoid.
