The Aston Villa midfielder is struggling for first-team football at Villa Park and has been linked with joining Mark Warburton at Ibrox.

The story

Rangers reportedly want Aaron Tshibola on loan – as reported by the Birmingham Mail.

The summer signing has struggled for first-team football since Steve Bruce took over as manager and could be on his way out of the club in January – with the Scottish side keen on a loan move.

Positives

Rangers need to strengthen in the middle of the park – after Joey Barton’s move away from the club on a free transfer.

Tshibola is undoubtedly a talented player who was one of the Championship’s better performing midfielders last season and he would be above the level needed to play in the Scottish top-flight.

Negatives

His signature on loan would be just another temporary fix at Rangers, who are looking to bring in permanent options more regularly nowadays.

He has also suffered a groin strain this season and has not featured for the team since October, so will be lacking slightly in match practice.

The verdict?

Whilst there are concerns over his fitness and the longevity of such a deal Rangers would be foolish not to bring in the Villa star if a deal is on the table.

Rangers should definitely go for it.
