The former Newcastle United team-mates could not have predicted this turn of fortunes.
France’s Moussa Sissoko shoots at goal
Things have not exactly panned out for Tottenham Hotspur’s summer signing Moussa Sissoko this season. He cost around £30 million from Newcastle United in the summer but has failed to make an impact at the club since the move.
But his fee seemed justified. Sissoko had just been one of the stars of the France team that made the European Championships final. He was then linked with plenty of Europe’s biggest teams but ended up at Spurs on deadline day.
Newcastle fans however were happy to cash in on the inconsistent player. Yesterday, his woes this season were put into context.
Sissoko has been dropped by French national team boss Didier Deschamps. Meanwhile, Florian Thauvin has been given his first call-up.

The Newcastle United flop, currently on loan at Marseille, has been rewarded for his good form in Ligue 1.
Sissoko’s career is seemingly taking backward steps since his move to Tottenham.
So, whilst a Newcastle flop is thriving, one they sold for big money is now struggling to have any impact.
Sissoko will need to do much more at Spurs if he is to reclaim his place in the French set-up.
