Fabrizio Romano has suggested on the Last Word on Spurs (17 minutes, 30 seconds) that Tottenham Hotspur actually made an enquiry over re-signing Christian Eriksen.
Tottenham only let Eriksen go to Inter Milan in January, but the playmaker has struggled in Italy.
Some reports have claimed that Inter could already sell Eriksen, and it seems that Tottenham did actually explore the possibility of bringing the Danish international back to North London.
However, Tottenham’s enquiry was quickly batted away by Inter, who want to give Eriksen more time to settle.
“The truth is that one of my sources told me that Tottenham have asked to take Eriksen back, but two hours later I spoke with Inter and they told me ‘there’s no chance to see him back at Tottenham’,” Romano said.
“This is not a possibility, but I think someone in the club was considering bring him back again.
“Inter are saying that the player will stay, 100 per cent.”

Bringing Eriksen back would have been a highly controversial move by Tottenham.
The 28-year-old, who was once described as ‘special’ by Mauricio Pochettino (Bleacher Report), was unquestionably one of Spurs’s most important throughout his time at the club, but they way he engineered his exit left a sour taste.
Eriksen’s form badly dipped following his comments saying that he wants to leave at the start of the 2019/20 campaign, and he lost favour with many Tottenham supporters.
Spurs still haven’t signed a direct replacement for Eriksen since he departed, although Mourinho does have the likes of Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele and Erik Lamela who can offer creativity to his Spurs side.
