Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabzrizio Romano has given an update on Georginio Wijnaldum’s current situation at Liverpool.

The Dutch midfielder’s future has been a hot talking point for some time now as he enters the final few months of his contract.

Some have claimed that he’s agreed a deal with Barcelona, but Romano is now claiming that this is not the case, but he says that there’s a 90 per cent chance of him leaving the club this summer.

“At the moment there is nothing agreed. Barcelona are changing everything. There is a new president, new board, let’s see with the manager. For sure the situation with Ronald Koeman will be key because Ronald Koeman is in love with Wijnaldum,” Romano said.

“They are talking with the agent, so we can say there is something. They are negotiating and Barcelona are so interested. But at the moment nothing is signed and done because they have to plan for the future, they have to understand about the position of Ronald Koeman and then they will decide on certain players.”

“Apart from Eric Garcia, who we will talk about in the next minutes, but with Wijnaldum there is nothing agreed. The truth is that 90% I would say that Wijnaldum will leave Liverpool. Yes because there is no agreement at the moment, last bid was in December, and they didn’t find an agreement, so there are huge chances to see him out of the club.”

It seems as though there’s still a slim chance that Wijnaldum stays at Liverpool.

The midfielder seemed to be set for Barcelona, but it doesn’t seem as though that move is done and dusted yet, and while Wijnaldum is likely to leave, there’s still a small chance he won’t.

Hopefully, the higher-ups at Anfield can find an agreement to keep him at the club as he’s been a fantastic servant who would be missed massively if he departed.
