Alan Hutton has told BBC Radio 5 Live (18/10/20 at 1:30 pm) that Celtic captain Scott Brown is ‘one of the best’ at ‘winding people up’ on the pitch.

The former Rangers defender used the likes of Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent as players who Brown has managed to get the better of when it comes to getting a reaction from them.

Kent famously tried to swing a punch at Celtic’s man in the middle last season, whilst Morelos seems to wind other people up all the time and also finds himself getting beat with that very same stick.

The talk was about players from today’s game who are good at getting under the skin of other players and putting them off their game, as Hutton used Brown as an example.

“Scott Brown is one of the best at it,” Hutton told BBC Radio 5 Live. “He’s done it for years. And he knows who to pick on.

“From the likes of Morelos and so on. He knows he is going to get a reaction. The time with Kent, he managed to wind him up and it just puts them off their game slightly. That’s all he is trying to do.

“There are loads of people out there who are good at it. At just winding people up and getting them off their game, so it happens. It will forever be in the game but just not as much before.”

Unfortunately for Brown, he wasn’t able to use such tactics during Celtic’s pretty disappointing Old Firm defeat from the weekend.

It was pretty obvious that the supporters were massively missed at Parkhead and given Brown’s ways, he is the type of player that feeds off the crowd and needs them in the stands.

Whilst it’s still early stages of this new, unique and delayed season, fans will be hoping that they are back in their seats for the second half of the campaign but it does seem unlikely.
