Arsenal, Liverpool and AS Monaco all benefit from a new deal for Wojciech Szczesny at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has had to read and hear a lot of speculation about his position at the club this season, as the Gunners have made a superb start to the season on all fronts.
The Pole has been one of the most consistent players for the club in that start, which doesn’t seem to have stopped speculation with Arsenal being linked to some of the best goalkeepers all over Europe.
However, Arsenal have shown their hand with a new five-year deal on the table for Szczesny, which shows Arsene Wenger sees him as the club’s number one for the foreseeable future.
The Pole’s current £50,000 per week deal expires at the end of next season but Arsenal seem keen to tie him down on a new five-year contract which benefits three different sides.

Arsenal
The Gunners naturally benefit because they keep and retain one of the most consistent goalkeepers in the Premier League.
Szczesny has been a constant in a side which has lost just once in their last 14 fixtures, as he provides confidence and assurance to the club’s back four.
Tying Szczesny down also bypasses the potentially awkward process of trying to replace him, with complicated deals for high profile stars to go hand-in-hand with confusion and anger from fans.
Liverpool
Liverpool benefit from Szczesny signing a new five-year deal because it means they don’t have to sell Pepe Reina to one of their main rivals.
Reina was mentioned in several reports suggesting he could end up at the Emirates Stadium, which all date back to the summer before Szczesny was able to produce his quality and consistency.
There are several other sides Liverpool would be happy to do business with ahead of Arsenal, such as Barcelona and Reina’s current loan side, Napoli.

AS Monaco
Monaco are the third team which benefit from a new deal for the Polish goalkeeper because it increases their chance of signing Barcelona number one Victor Valdes.
Valdes has made it clear he won’t be staying at the Nou Camp beyond this season and Arsenal’s show of faith towards their current goalkeeper makes them less likely to go after Valdes as a replacement.
That means one less team for Monaco to fight against in order to get Valdes, a player they have been linked with for several months.
