Mick Jagger is one of many famous faces to boast an affiliation with tennis.
After all, the British rock superstar has been pictured playing the sport all throughout his life, and has openly supported tournaments and players alike.
A keen fan of Wimbledon and a proud supporter of his compatriots, the peak of his music career coincided with one of the most iconic eras in tennis history.
As such, he was willing to go to extreme lengths to meet his sporting heroes.
When Mick Jagger met John McEnroe
At least, that’s what Sky Sports suggested, sharing an intriguing anecdote that just emphasises how much of a fan Mick Jagger was of the sport.
They actually recall how the 82-year-old once allegedly delayed an entire concert, just so he could meet John McEnroe.

The American remains one of tennis’ most famous faces, both for his success, style and iconic outbursts on and off the court.
This was not the first meeting between these two legends of their respective fields, with McEnroe telling the Big Issue: “You would love to find that perfect line between the lifestyle and the sport, but it is almost impossible.
“We got to go to Studio 54 and meet Keith Richards and Mick Jagger. I mean, this was unbelievable. Would I have changed certain things? Of course. But all in all, it was a hell of a ride.”
Mick Jagger’s huge support for Johanna Konta
In 2017, Johanna Konta was enjoying one of the greatest runs of her career.
She had catapulted herself into the semi-finals of Wimbledon, becoming the first woman to do so in nearly 40 years.

Such was the whirlwind nature of this success, Mick Jagger was quick to show his support.
He sent out a tweet congratulating her on a historic run, with Wim Fissette, Konta’s then-coach, adding: “She got an invitation from U2 to go backstage at their concert at the weekend, Mick Jagger tweeted this morning, yesterday she took a picture with Ellie Goulding – all new friends! It’s a different situation than before the start of the tournament.”
Mick Jagger’s support for British tennis and his clear love for the game should only reinforce the worldwide popularity of the sport.
