The tennis player Lleyton Hewitt would sit next to on a 15-hour flight

Lleyton Hewitt will go down as one of the greatest tennis players of all time, having reached the pinnacle of the sport.

Australian ace Hewitt is a former world number one, and claimed 30 ATP Tour titles during his fantastic career.

Among his superb achievements are two Grand Slam titles, which arrived at the US Open in 2001 and Wimbledon in 2002.

Hewitt also claimed a Grand Slam doubles title at the US Open in 2000, emerging victorious alongside Max Mirnyi.

Lleyton Hewitt would sit next to Carlos Alcaraz on a 15-hour flight

The Australian icon is still heavily active in tennis, and is set to captain Australia at the upcoming 2026 United Cup.

He’s also been part of the preparations for the Australian Open, ahead of which he was asked which tennis player he’d like to sit beside if he was on a 15-hour flight.

Hewitt responded to the Australian Open on Instagram: “That’s a good question. Probably Carlos Alcaraz I think.

“I enjoy my conversations with Carlitos, we have great chats, we talk about golf as well which we’ve played together before. He’s a very entertaining young man.”

Carlos Alcaraz would make a fantastic travel companion

Alcaraz would undoubtedly make a great travel companion, with the Spaniard certainly one of the most enthusiastic players on the ATP Tour.

He’s a massive favorite among tennis supporters, both for his actions on and off the court, with Hewitt even a fan of his golfing game.

Alcaraz also already has plenty of success to share despite being just 22 years old, with so much more to come.

Like Hewitt, Alcaraz has reached number one in the world rankings, but he already boasts a huge six Grand Slam titles.

He is set to be on the plane going to the 2026 Australian Open, which returns to Melbourne Park in the middle of January.
